Job Description
Little Chicks Nursery Plus aims to provide inclusive, high-quality care that enhances the development, care, and education of pre-school children in a safe and stimulating environment. Duties include:
Working in a successful Play setting and acting as a great role-model for our young people. You will organise and run safe and enjoyable play activities. Ensuring infants have support for their physical, emotional, social and mental development.
Essential Criteria:
We want someone who:
- Will be a great sporting role-model for our children.
- Can organise and run safe and enjoyable play activities with children
- Will be able to support the Lead Supervisor with session deliveries.
- Help to create a positive and rewarding learning environment, assisting children to enjoying developing new skills.
- Observe children’s play and extend learning in line with the Curriculum for Wales and Playwork Principles.
- Support children’s independence, problem-solving, and resilience through open-ended and risky play.
- Promote a welcoming, respectful, and emotionally secure environment for all children.
- Support children with toileting and personal care needs in line with hygiene and dignity policies.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Support hygiene routines, including handwashing, cleaning, and safe snack preparation.
Desirable Criteria:
- Strong play background.
- Experience of working with children.
- Good organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills.
As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:
- On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
- Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
- Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
- Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
