CHELSEA’S APPRENTICESHIP JOURNEY

Learner Spotlight: Chelsea’s Determination to Succeed

Chelsea has joined her apprenticeship with an incredibly powerful mindset — driven by a desire to prove not only others wrong, but herself as well. From the very beginning, she has demonstrated resilience, determination, and a genuine commitment to improving her skills.

Having previously faced challenges with written work due to dyslexia, Chelsea has not allowed this to hold her back. Instead, she has fully embraced the programme and is throwing herself into every aspect of her learning — showing real dedication (and at times, perhaps even pushing herself a little too hard!).

Alongside her studies, Chelsea balances life as a parent to her young daughter and works part-time at Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn Primary, making her commitment even more commendable.

Despite having three Essential Skills Wales (ESW) qualifications still to complete, Chelsea has made outstanding progress in a short space of time. Over the past 2–3 weeks, she has shown a strong focus on her WEST assessments, already progressing from Entry Level 3 to Level 1 in Application of Number — an area she previously identified as her biggest challenge.

What has stood out most is Chelsea’s attitude towards feedback. She approaches all developmental feedback positively, taking it on board and consistently re-submitting her work until it meets the required standard. This level of perseverance is a fantastic example of a growth mindset in action.

In addition, Chelsea has actively sought support from her mentor within school, making the most of the guidance available to her. This willingness to ask for help and use available resources highlights her maturity and commitment to success.

Chelsea is a brilliant example of what can be achieved with the right attitude, determination, and support. We are excited to see her continue to grow and succeed throughout her apprenticeship journey.
