Level 4 Leading Health and Wellbeing
Qualification Purpose:
The Level 4 Leading Health and Wellbeing qualification is designed for individuals working in Health and Wellbeing Lead roles within education in Wales. The qualification aims to standardise how Health and Wellbeing Leads operate within education settings by developing the knowledge and leadership skills required to implement effective wellbeing strategies and drive organisational change.
Enabling learners to provide a health and wellbeing plan for their organisation to meet statutory requirements by developing a whole-school approach to emotional and mental wellbeing, implement minimum standards for staff and learners, and lead strategic improvements tailored to local community needs with a ‘placed based’ approach.
Learners will develop leadership skills to plan, implement and evaluate wellbeing strategies that support positive outcomes across educational settings.
Age ranges
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 18 to undertake this
Learner Entry Requirements
Suitable for individuals working in, or progressing into, leadership roles within education or wellbeing settings
Assessment Methods
Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement across all units.
Assessment methods may include:
- Practical application in the workplace
- Professional discussions
- Written assignments
- Reflective practice

Learners seeking progress from this qualification can advance their skills further through the following:
- ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management in Education
- ILM Level 5 Leadership and Management in Sport
- National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH)
Mandatory units
Learners must complete all 5 mandatory units to gain 24 credits at level 4.
